Why the Pigeon? Why not the pigeon?

Pigeons are the mascots of the city. They are the living embodiment of what cities represent. They represent the will to survive, sink or swim; feast or famine. Unlike other birds that fly south for winter or fly away when they see people. They’re side by side with you on the concrete with chest puffed out without fear. Pigeons are a moveable yet permanent aspect of the urban landscape. You may not notice construction equipment in the urban environment yet construction is always there. You may not notice the postal boxes that line the streets, but they are there. You may not notice the stop signs with their changing stickers and tags, but they are there. This is similar to the urban pigeon.

Some birds are featured on coins, dollar bills, or stamps, but where is the pigeon? Shouldn't the pigeon at least be the logo of USPS? The pigeon's job historically is to carry a message after all. Pigeons have even benefited countries during times of war. Sending messages over the front lines of battlefields. This is such a noble act, yet pigeons are instead treated as pest, rodents and villains. Their treatment parallels the treatment of certain ethnicities in the United States.

If McDonalds can have a mascot, if Geico can have a talking lizard, if batteries can promote with a robot rabbit, if tires can have a donut man as their mascot, then why not the city streets where life is about struggle and survival? Why not dcp?
